TITLE: The Crucifixion of Jesus
Type: Topical
PROPOSITION: In this lesson we will discuss how to view the crucifixion of Jesus, that it was 1) Real, 2) Personal, and 3) Sacrificial.
OBJECTIVES: Each hearer should be able to discuss how one should view the crucifixion of Jesus with others.
AIM: To impress upon each person the reality, personal nature, and sacrifice in the crucifixion of Jesus.
INTRODUCTION:

INTRODUCTION:
A. This morning I would like to give another reason why I am a member of the church of Christ – I am a member of the Church of Christ because it teaches the kingdom has now been established and Christ is now reigning.
B. The future kingdom theory together with the literal reign of Christ upon the earth for a literal 1,000 years has invaded the denominational world, it is publicly being advocated by their preachers, and it has even invaded the decision making of our government.
1. I could never cast my lot with a religious group which is lending its support to such a wild theory.
2. This wild theory is called “Premillennialism”
“Never Man Spake Like This Man” – Sermon Introduction: 1. John 7:32 — jewish leaders send officers to arrest the Lord. 2. Verse 33. He pointed to a time when he would no longer be with them, and those seeking could not find him (v. 34). This disturbed them.
SUBJECT: Miracles
TITLE: Bible Miracles
PROPOSITION: In this lesson, we will look at the subject of Bible miracles looking at their definition, distribution, and domain.
OBJECTIVES: Each should be able to understand what a Bible miracle was and explain their distribution and circumstances.
AIM: To help all have a better understanding of the purpose of Bible miracles.

INTRODUCTION: Read 1 Cor. 2:4-5.
1. The world is full of smart men:
1) with higher degrees,
2) with proven track records,
3) that present their ideas well.
2. Men of proven qualities are sought out, desired for leadership positions.
3. The same was true in Corinth. There were:
1) men who spoke words of wisdom,
2) men that communicated,
3) men that “made sense.”
Introduction: 1 John 1:7 – 2:2
1. John is discussing the sin problem among Christians.
1) 1:7 Walk in the light … blood cleanses.
2) 1:8 We may be assured we have a sin problem.
3) 1:9 forgiven, cleansed if we confess sins.
4) 1:10 Assured again, we must deal with sin.
5) 2:1 John stresses where it is we must go if we are in sin.
6) 2:2 He is the hILASMOS, the propitiation for our sins.

TITLE: When Religion Has No Authority
PROPOSITION: In this lesson we will study Judges 17-19 and draw appropriate lessons.
Objectives: Each ought to be able to explain how a lack of respect for God’s authority leads to false religious practices.

A. The study of the Holy Spirit is a very fascinating, fundamental and foundational study for the child of God.
B. The study of the Holy Spirit is both challenging and consoling, both interesting and intriguing, and both controversial and complex.
C. Minds brilliant and minds not so brilliant have given serious thought to the glorious being of the Holy Spirit.
DISCUSSION:
A. WHY STUDY THE HOLY SPIRIT?
Sermon on Communication — Unity within the body depends upon communication. In this sermon we will look at some Bible principles related to communication.
INTRODUCTION:
A. Another way that many are trying to make changes in the Lord’s church is pertaining to its music
1. Instrumental music always seems to loom in the background
2. No doubt a survey of the younger generation among churches of Christ would reveal that they do not consider the instrument in church worship to be objectionable
3. Prominent voices among the change agents have certainly declared their conviction that instrumental music should not be treated as an issue of fellowship

PROPOSITION: The Biblical picture of Grace shows us its 1) Definition, 2) Direction, 3) Duty, and 4) Determination.
OBJECTIVES: Everyone should be able to explain the meaning of grace and how that implies that we do not earn our salvation.
AIM: To encourage the brethren through the study of grace.
Sermon on the Bride of Christ. The bride must remember her wedding day and ever be faithful to it. The church is the beautiful bride of Christ.
A. The story is told of a bigoted Chinese man who had refused to hear a missionary preach. Finally, he surprised the missionary by telling him, ‘I have decided to hear the words of your religion — I want to hear about Jesus.’ When asked why the sudden change, the man said, ‘I have heard the laughter in your house, and in the houses of my countryman who have accepted what you preach and I want to hear it too.’
B. When people see the joy we possess as a Christian, they will want to know more about Christianity
1. But is we look like we have been weaned on a sour pickle, they world will probably not be interested in what we have to say.
SUBJECT: Ethics
TITLE: Four Commands to Live By
PROPOSITION: To discuss the four commands in 1 Peter 2:17: Honor all men; Love the brotherhood; Fear God; Honor the king.
OBJECTIVE: The hearer should be able to quote and explain the verse citing a supporting scripture for each point.
INTRODUCTION:
A. As the bank returns a hot check stamped “insufficient funds,” so one day God will turn away our self-living standards of morality as insufficient.
1. Have you heard or used one of these phrases to justify something lately?

2. One of the reasons there is so much religious error in our day is that many use insufficient standards – standards other than God’s
B. Let us look at some of these standards that man sets forth and see why they are insufficient.

PROPOSITION: To understand how to pray we must understand the Character, Circumstance, Content, and Consequences of prayer.
OBJECTIVES: The listener should be able to learn how to pray effectively both in public and private.
AIM: To teach the basic concept of prayer and to help those who are learning, to pray better.

1. Read: Acts 2:42 “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
SUBJECT: Salvation
TITLE: THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD
PROPOSITION: To set forth a study of 2 Corinthians 5:21, the righteousness of God and “in him,” as it relates to us.
OBJECTIVE:That we be located in Christ and be righteous.
INTRODUCTION;
1. Read: 2 Corinthians 5:21.
PROPOSITION: In this sermon we will look at the necessity for us not to be moved away from the hope of the gospel. We should not be moved because 1) God is immovable, 2) The Lord, Jesus, is immovable, 3) The gospel is immovable, 4) The kingdom is immovable, and 5) The souls of men depend upon our being immovable.
OBJECTIVES: Each Christian should be able to demonstrate from the scriptures the need to be immovable in the faith.
AIM: I want to exhort everyone present to hold fast to the gospel that they received.
