SUBJECT: Passage Study
TITLE: Studies in Daniel – God’s Purposes
PROPOSITION: In this lesson we will look at the first chapter of the book of Daniel and note God’s purposes, namely, that there was: 1) Divine Change, 2) Divine Constancy, and 3) Divine Counsel.
Objectives: That we understand God’s purposes can be accomplished even under difficult circumstances.

A. As we continue our study in Nehemiah, I again want to remind you of two passages:
1. Romans 15:4
2. 1 Corinthians 10:11
B. In our last lesson on the life and times of Nehemiah we showed how he was a man of concern by being a man of sacrifice, sorrow, and supplication
C. In this lesson we will set forth Nehemiah’s strength by showing how he confronted fear, enemies, reproach, and opposition. This enabled him to survey the work and get the people “fired up” and ready to build the walls around Jerusalem.
DISCUSSION:
Introduction: Psalm 119:11
1. For 176 vss. the psalmist writes powerfully regarding the word of God.
2. He begins with a blessing to all who walk in the Law, v. 1.
3. He ends with expressions of longing for salvation according to the law, the commandments.
4. The word of God is lifted high in prestige and importance for the child of God.
5. Our text highlights the importance of the word applied to the heart.
Introduction: Luke 7:30
1. The Pharisees and Lawyers heard the counsel of God as the rest did.
2. He saw the confirmation as the rest did. Knew about John and Zacharias. Knew the prophecies.
3. Yet they rejected God’s counsel. Wouldn’t obey.

C. There is no contradiction in these verses
1. God’s promises do not have to be inevitable to be certain

A. Are you a charitable person?
1. If so, are you sure that your charity is pleasing to God?
SUBJECT: Worship
TITLE: Before the Throne
PROPOSITION: When we come before the throne we see that 1) Beauty is Defined, 2) God is Exalted, 3) Holiness is Honored, 4) Praise is Lifted, 5) Man is Humbled, 6) Authority is Respected, 7) Worship is Consummated.
OBJECTIVE: The listener should be keenly aware of the throne room of God and what happens when we enter that throne room.
Aim: To fix within our hearts the proper attitude that we ought to have when we come before the Father’s throne to worship.

Why in Bethlehem, To Shepherds
INTRODUCTION: Luke 2:8-14
1. On the night of the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, an angel appeared and called on mankind to rejoice.
2. Then the hosts of Heaven appeared and glorified God and pronounced peace and goodwill to the inhabitants of planet Earth.
3. The announcement was not made in Rome or Jerusalem or even in the East among wise men.
4. It was made exclusively to the lowly; to shepherds in the field.
5. It makes one wonder, WHY? Why, in the wisdom of God was this announcement made near Bethlehem, to shepherds?
