Without Instruction, Discipline And Supervision

Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles

Over the past ten years, I have substituted at various school libraries in our local school district, and have observed the following regarding the children of this present generation:

  • Without instruction, discipline and supervision, children will show little respect for those in authority.
  • Without instruction, discipline and supervision, children will run rampant — yes, even in a library.
  • Without instruction, discipline and supervision, children will not follow simple instructions.
  • Without instruction, discipline and supervision, children will never develop the skills necessary to successfully live in an ever-changing technological world.
  • Without instruction, discipline and supervision, children will never develop into productive citizens.
  • Without instruction, discipline and supervision, children will never develop self-discipline.

What’s my conclusion regarding the children of this present generation?

Children must have instruction, discipline and supervision! (Proverbs 1:1-3; Proverbs 23:13; Ephesians 6:4; cf. Genesis 18:19).

Let’s think about it! And then take any necessary action.
