The God Of Great And Small
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles, uncategorizedWhile recently looking at a NASA website, I read where astronomers have discovered what they call “the largest structure in the observable universe.” It occupies an area in the night sky about 40 times that of the full moon as seen from earth. This supercluster includes at least 11 galaxies and 18 quasars containing hundreds of billions of stars. It’s an amazing discovery made even more wondrous when we read that God “counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name” (Psalm 147:4).
From the above Psalm, we learn an even more amazing fact – that the all-powerful and infinite God cares about you and me. Note that “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3).
He is the same God whose “understanding is infinite” Psalm 147:5) – yet capable of seeing the tiniest bird fall to the ground and numbers the hairs on our heads (Matthew 10:29-31).
When we marvel at the splendor of the night sky, we praise Him who created it (Psalm 147:1).
How amazing to discover that the God of great and small, through His Son, demonstrated His infinite love for all (John 3:16-17).
“I stand amazed in the presence
Of Jesus the Nazarene,
And wonder how He could love me,
A sinner condemned, unclean.
How marvelous! how wonderful!
And my song shall ever be:
How marvelous! how wonderful
Is my Savior’s love for me!” —Gabriel
