SUBJECT: Attitudes

TITLE: Lessons from the Rich Young Ruler

PROPOSITION: To study the story of the rich young ruler and note four particular lessons.

OBJECTIVES: Each person should be able to explain these four elements of the story of the rich young ruler.

AIM: To cause everyone to think about their situation and if there is anything in their life coming between them and God

INTRODUCTION:

1. Read: Mark 10:17-22

Introduction:

1. The religious world around us has arranged itself into denominations (distinct parts of the whole).

2. Originally there were a few (Lutheran, Church of England, Presbyterian, Catholic, etc.). Now there are more than a thousand.

3. We must comment on this situation because this idea is nowhere found in the doctrine of Christ. Denominations have no right to exist because they are not found in scripture.

4. The will of Christ is ONE CHURCH, BODY, KINGDOM. (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 4:4; John 3:5)

5. The denominations argue that the totality of the denominations is the one church.

1) The New Testament, however, fails to use the word “church” in that sense.

2) There is the “church universal” (Matthew 16:18) and “church local” (Romans 16:16).

Sermon on a Life Worth Living INTRODUCTION: A. Is life worth living? 1. This question has been asked by millions through the years, and it is sad that many have answered “no!”

PROPOSITION: Heaven Sermon Outline | Heaven is a place where there is no evil, where the righteous will dwell eternally, and where God and Christ are.

OBJECTIVES: In this lesson, the hearer should realize the importance of being with God eternally, living a righteous life, and avoiding evil.

1. Envision in your mind two mountains with a large valley running between them

2. On the one mountain you have the Israelites and on the other you have the Philistines — both come to battle

PROPOSITION: The Christian attitude toward wealth should recognize, 1) our relationship with God regarding wealth, 2) the reasons God has given for wealth, 3) the problems associated with wealth.

OBJECTIVES:The hearer should be able to understand their responsibilities and attitudes toward wealth.

AIM:I want everyone to have a proper, healthy, and reverent attitude toward the teaching within the Bible regarding wealth.

INTRODUCTION:

1. Read: 1 Timothy 6:6-10

Introduction:

1. Do you have any idea why you have a problem with a particular sin in your life?

1) We say, “It’s hard to deal with sin!”

2) Perhaps we should stop and examine why it’s hard.

2. If an enemy wants to stop your progress he will often spread lies about you to do it.

1) To poison public opinion.

2) To cause you to doubt yourself.

3. Our enemy uses the same tactic to stop your progress.

4. He is so clever that often he gets YOU to tell the lies to yourself. It’s easy because he knows what you want to hear.

5. We must recognize the lies for what they are in order to make progress once again. We must stop telling them.James 4:7

4. Is it because it because you think that one church is as good as another?

Proposition: We want to study the Pattern of Worship. Our pattern of worship must have the correct object. That the object of worship is not ourselves, nor our fellow man, but it is God.

Title: The Object of Worship

Objective: Everyone should be able to understand that the only object of worship is God and reject all other efforts to worship other things.

Aim: To impress upon each hearer the necessity of letting God define our worship.
