Sermon on Abraham – Sermon outline from the book of Genesis. Tom Moore points out the great spiritual lessons from a great spiritual man.
INTRODUCTION: Read 2 Thessalonians 3:6
1. This passage deals with a specific problem in the Thessalonian church.
2. There were brethren who refused to work for their own living, 2 Thessalonians 3:11
3. These were called “disorderly.” They were without discipline.
4. These did not walk after the tradition received from the apostles. Therefore, they were in sin.
5. We have, in this apostolic injunction, a principle that must be learned by the people of God in every generation. If it is not learned the church withers.
6. WE MUST WITHDRAW OURSELVES FROM THE DISORDERLY.
7. Withdraw means to keep away, stand aloof (Gingrich, Shorter Lexicon).
8. This is not something to be taken lightly but with fear and trembling.
Scripture ref: Matthew 9:37-38

INTRODUCTION:
A. It can be positively asserted and then sustained that only divine wisdom could have produced the qualifications of an elder necessary for one to function acceptably in the eldership in the Lord’s church.
1. Human wisdom would have added … or taken away.
2. God’s qualifications are perfect for the job.
PROPOSITION: To answer the question “Why do we sing?”
OBJECTIVE: That the hearer might learn the reasons for our singing in worship.

INTRODUCTION:
A. Psychologists tell us that we are born with two fears, the fear of falling and the fear of noise; but we soon develop many more.
1. It would be interesting to know how many different “phobias” are mentioned in the dictionary.
a. Indeed, our dictionaries betray us.
b. Our age is frantic with fear.
2. Members of a psychology class asked 500 people, “What are you afraid of?”
a. Those 500 people listed 7,000 fears!
b. But it need not be that way, for Christ came to deliver us from our fears.
TITLE: The Problems of Preachers SUBJECT: Preaching, Problems PROPOSITION: To look at preachers and some of their problems and understand how the Bible distinguishes between the preacher and the message he preaches. OBJECTIVE: That members place their faith and trust in God and His word and not in any man. INTRODUCTION: 1. Read: 2 Corinthians […]
SUBJECT: Giving as Worship
TITLE: Worship – Part 6 – Giving as Worship
PROPOSITION: To set forth four principles for giving that will help us understand better our giving in worship to God and will help us to understand how to give. These principles are: 1) The Principle of Grace–God gives to His creation; 2) The Principle of Gratitude–We should give from a thankful heart; 3) The Principle of Generosity–We must first give of ourselves; 4) The Principle of Egression–If we fail to give, we will lose what we already have.
OBJECTIVE: Each hearer should be able to state these basic principles of giving and how they relate to their life and worship.
AIM: I hope to encourage the brethren to examine their own giving and see if they can enhance their worship of God by giving Him more from their life.
INTRODUCTION:
INTRODUCTION: Read Acts 4:36.
1. Apostles naming of Barnabas shows the importance of encouragement.
2. How can we encourage one another like Barnabas?
INTRODUCTION: 1. Modern-day revelations are rampant in the religious world. Angels, Holy Spirit, nudgings, still small voice. 2. These “revelations” are trusted by those who “received” them but rejected by most others. Divisive, contradicting, often confusing or vague. 3. Shall we believe modern-day revelations? Can we remove the division, contradictions, and know precisely what the […]
Introduction:
1. The religious world around us has arranged itself into denominations (distinct parts of the whole).
2. Originally there were a few (Lutheran, Church of England, Presbyterian, Catholic, etc.). Now there are more than a thousand.
3. We must comment on this situation because this idea is nowhere found in the doctrine of Christ. Denominations have no right to exist because they are not found in scripture.
4. The will of Christ is ONE CHURCH, BODY, KINGDOM. (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 4:4; John 3:5)
5. The denominations argue that the totality of the denominations is the one church.
1) The New Testament, however, fails to use the word “church” in that sense.
2) There is the “church universal” (Matthew 16:18) and “church local” (Romans 16:16).
INTRODUCTION: A. It was mentioned last week that there are two things we can count on for sure in this life ““ and that is death and taxes. 1. In our last lesson we discussed the government and it is God ordained, and how that giving honor to government is giving honor to God 2. […]

Objectives: Each should understand how God has shown his love to man.
Aim: To teach how God has shown His love for man; that love is not merely emotionalism.
INTRODUCTION:

INTRODUCTION:
A. In our series on “sin” we have so far discussed: The Origin of Sin – What Sin Is – Kinds of Sin – What Sin Will Do To You
B. In the lesson of this hour we will be discussing “Improper Attitudes Toward Sin”
1. This is an important study because attitudes determine our actions
2. Proverbs 4:23
a. The “heart” (the mind) is from where all our actions originate
b. If we obey God, it is because we have a mind of obedience, by way of illustration … “a mind to work” (Neh. 4:6)
c. The attitude that we hold toward sin will greatly influence us in regard to how we react to the sin in our lives and in the lives of others
SUBJECT: Evangelism
TITLE: “Come and See”
PROPOSITION: When talking to others about the gospel, what do you tell them? One very simple thing to say is “come and see.” Come and see 1) The works of God, 2) The Glory of God, 3) The Son of God, and 4) The people of God.
