One must wear the king’s garments. We must put on Christ in baptism. “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Galatians 3:27). His righteousness must be our righteousness or we will not enter (Matthew 5:20). Paul said that he wanted to “be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ” (Philippians 3:9).
PROPOSITION: To teach on the certainty of death and judgment and to remind the hearer of how men ought to live with this in view.
OBJECTIVE:That the hearer might be informed of the certainty of death and judgment and prepare for them by means of obedience to God, forgiveness of sins, and patience in tribulation.

1) The Hebrews writer is in the midst of a discussion about the tabernacle being a shadow of things to come.
SUBJECT: Attitudes
TITLE: Beatitudes – The Meek
PROPOSITION: In this lesson we will look at Matthew 5:5, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” We will answer the questions, 1) Who are the meek? 2) How shall they inherit the earth? And 3) What are some practical applications for this verse?
Objectives: Each should be able to answer these questions in their own study.
Aim: That each would understand more about meekness and the blessedness inherent in being meek.

Sermon on The Ten Commandments Introduction: Read Exodus 20:3-17 1. To many, all that God desires is, “Keep the 10 Commandments.” 2. These have no concept of God’s differing dispensations, laws. 3. It is shocking to them to be told, “We’re not under that law.”
INTRODUCTION:
1. Men may have trouble finding the truth as Pilate did. John 18:38
2. Everything God says is truth.
1) “Thy word is truth.” John 17:17
2) It is impossible for God to lie. Hebrews 6:18
3. Knowing this, not surprising to find that God hates a lying tongue. Proverbs 12:22. A lying tongue is opposed to truth.
4. We should shun lying, no matter its apparent advantage.
5. NOTE: What lying is not. 1 Samuel 16:2.
1) Concealment is not lying.
2) Some would have us believe that their every question must be answered fully or we must be liars.
3) Withholding information is not lying.
4) Having two purposes and only revealing one is not lying.
6. QUESTION: Why shouldn’t we lie if it’s to our advantage?

B. But the privilege of prayer assumes God will heed our prayers…
God wants us to fulfill His purposes for us by living for Him every day. In this way, we can grow to be the kind of people that God wants us to be. Ultimately, God wants every single person to grow into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. Romans 8:29 says, “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
INTRODUCTION:
A. If a visitor from Mars were to visit an average congregation of Christians, having read the Sermon on the Mount on the way, he would perhaps be shocked by the contrast!
1. Our Lord has just called His first disciples, first showing them the nature of true discipleship (Matt. 5:3-16)
2. Now in Matthew 5:17-48, Jesus is teaching His disciples what true discipleship means
Christ the King gives His kingdom 1) Knowledge, 2) Good Works, 3) Strength, 4) Family. Each person should understand that Christ the King is the source of Knowledge, Good Works, Strength, and Family. I want everyone to appreciate that Christ the King is the charter of His kingdom.
Regardless of how many new technologies we obtain, the focus of the gospel is still the same: people. Jesus was about people; the church is about people; we need to be about people. What does that mean? It means continuing to worship and take care of the saints in the local body, reaching out to others in the community with the gospel and growing the body of Christ. Taking the message of the gospel to the rest of the world as we have opportunity (Matthew 28:18-20).

1. Sin comes from hamartia and literally means “to miss the mark” – it is the idea of an archer missing the target
2. Sin, though it is a small word, is a very terrible word
