There's A Detective Story Worth Looking Into

Looking up the meaning of words is a great way to increase our vocabulary. For example, the word “whodunit” means “detective story.” The most important detective story of all time is the question of creation.
There are some folks who wish the Bible said, “In the beginning, there was nothing but a blob — God wasn’t needed.” To them, it’s unacceptable to say, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1), or “Let Us make man in Our image” (Genesis 1:26).
Rather, they believe that after an explosion of energy and matter, somehow an atmosphere conducive to life was formed. Then, over millions of years, single-celled organisms morphed themselves into the exceedingly complex life forms we have today.
If we believe that folks, there’s some ocean front property in Arizona that someone wants to sell us — cheap!
Some folks say there’s no need for God, for it all happened naturally — on an earth and in an atmosphere not of anyone’s making, forces with a blueprint designed by no one joined together to place the earth perfectly for life to thrive.
What we do with the beginning words of Genesis — “In the beginning God” — is the crux of it all. We must either believe these words — and everything the rest of God’s Word claims, or we must believe that our meaningless lives is a result from an accidental, mindless chain reaction resulting in a “blob” of some kind.
Dear reader, think about this question:
“In the beginning — was the universe and every living thing the result of the creative power of an all-powerful God, or did everything come about by mere chance?“
The correct answer to this “whodunit” question can be found only within the pages of the Bible.
The question is, “Will we be willing to look into this detective story to see if these things are so?” (Acts 17:11; cf. 2 Timothy 2:15).
The choice is always ours (Joshua 24:14-15).
