“The Same Yesterday, Today, And Forever”
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesWith much assurance, the writer of Hebrews states: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
The Hebrew writer illustrates the above truth in the very next verse:
“Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines” (Hebrews 13:9; cf. Ephesians 4:11-15)
The changelessness of Christ means that the gospel He delivered is also changeless (1 Peter 1:25; cf. Isaiah 40:8). The organization of the Lord’s church, its government, doctrine, and purpose are changeless (Ephesians 3:1-12).
This knowledge regarding our unchanging Lord, should motivate us to anchor our souls to the unchangeable teachings contained in the gospel of Christ, never to be swayed by the doctrines of men (Gal. 1:6-12; Titus 1:9-14; 2 Peter 1:16-19; cf. Matthew 15:1-9).
