Proverbially Speaking
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesFrom the 2004, volume 42, number 4 edition of The Sword and Staff publication, pg. 2, comes the following proverbs of wisdom (appropriate Scriptures and related articles have been added):
- We are blessed to be a blessing — Are you a blessing? (2 Corinthians 8:10-15; cf. Exodus 16:16-18).
- The good pleasure of God’s will is that “whosoever will” may be saved (Revelation 22:17 KJV).
- Christian living and sound doctrine go together like a horse and a carriage (Titus 1:6-9).
- The Christian race is not run in competition with others, but on the basis of whether you finish it or not (2 Timothy 4:6-7).
- When a person yields himself to Christ, stubbornness becomes a virtue in steadfastness (1 Corinthians 15:58).
- Some forms of prayer will cease in eternity, but praise and thanksgiving will go on forever and ever (Revelation 7:9-12).
- In marriage, the little things are the big things (also see article).
- God keeps His covenant (Daniel 9:4) and keeps those who keep His covenant (Revelation 3:10).
- People who get things done are the people who do them (Matthew 7:21; James 1:22-25).
