Proverbially Speaking

Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles

Proverbially SpeakingIn the 2012, volume 50, number 4 edition of The Sword and Staff publication, pg. 2, comes the following proverbs of wisdom (appropriate Scriptures and related articles have been added):

  • Actions speak louder than words.
  • Christian is as Christian does, and Christian does as Christian is.
  • To get anywhere, you must first start.
  • The Word of God will keep you from sin, and sin will keep you from the Word of God.
  • If you are in the dark, it is hard for you to see the bright side of things.
  • Hope gives birth to patience, and trials nurture, cultivate and bring it to maturity (then patience sustains us in our lives as Christians).
  • If you live just for today, when the day is gone, your life will be gone too (Luke 12:13-21).
  • If there is not a sparrow that falls that does not escape the notice of God (Matthew 10:29-31), rest assured that He is mindful of our situation and lot in life.
  • Young person, you should only “date” someone fit for a “mate.”
  • If we would continue, we must continue in prayer (Colossians 4:2).
