Proverbially Speaking

Always pray first, not after all else has failed (1 Thessalonians 5:17; cf. Acts 12:5; Romans 1:9-10).
How you start your day many times is indicative as to how it will end.
God is one and our devotion to Him should be singular (John 4:24; cf. Matthew 4:10).
The closer we get to God, the more we realize just how far away from Him that we really are (Isaiah 6:1-5).
When the Lord forgives us, we need to forgive ourselves and move on (Philippians 3:13-15).
Count your blessings; name them one by one, and you will run out of time before the day is done.
The closer we get to the light, the more conspicuous our sins become (John 3:19-20).
Although works [of obedience] are decidedly necessary (Ephesians 2:10; Hebrews 13:20-21), grace is no longer grace when we think that we can be good enough to save ourselves (Romans 2:1-4; cf. Romans 11:1-6; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:1-5).
If you are living life in the fast lane, you are going to have to slow down before you can make an exit (1 Corinthians 6:9-10; Gal. 5:19-21).
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21) – Paul could say “to die is gain” because for him “to live” was “Christ” (and it must be in this order for the last to be true.
