Brethren, Let's Take A “Stand”
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesGod’s word gives us some inspired advice regarding the spiritual ideals for we are to “stand.” The following are some Scriptures which gives emphasis to our “standing” for those things that are right according to God’s inspired Word (2 Timothy 3:16; cf. 1 Corinthians 2:1-13; Gal. 1:11-12; Ephesians 3:1-5; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
- Stand in awe of the Lord (Psalm 33:8).
- Stand in respect of God’s word (Psalm 119:161; cf. Nehemiah 8:5-8).
- Stand firm in the Lord’s grace (Romans 5:2; 1 Peter 5:12).
- Stand by faith (Romans 11:20; 2 Corinthians 1:24).
- Stand in the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1).
- Stand firm in the faith (1 Corinthians 16:13).
- Stand firm in the liberty by which Christ has made us free (Gal. 5:1).
- Stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11).
- Stand firm in the evil day (Ephesians 6:13).
- Stand for truth and righteousness (Ephesians 6:14).
- Stand firm in one spirit with the brethren (Philippians 1:27).
- Stand firm in the Lord (Philippians 4:1; Thessalonians 3:8).
- Stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God (Colossians 4:12).
- Stand upon the inspired word of God (2 Thessalonians 2:15).
And finally, the inspired writer Luke tells us to, “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man” (Luke 21:36).
