Subject: Lord’s Supper – Mental Aspect

Title: Keeping Your Mind On The Lord During His Supper.

Introduction:

1. What do you think about during the Lord’s Supper?

1) Your child’s behavior?

2) Problems at work?

3) The prospects of your favorite football team?

4) The pot roast at Luby’s?

5) Are you thinking about the death of Christ?

2. Of all the rites ever exercised the Lord’s Supper is the one with the deepest meaning.

1) This is because of the One Who instituted it. Many others are man-made and vain.

2) This is because of its simplicity. It requires no special religious language or esoteric symbolism. There is nothing hidden or shadowed. Everything is simple to understand and perform.

3. Why do we have problems keeping our minds on the Lord during this most meaningful service?

1) Perhaps it is because we don’t plan to keep our minds on Him.

2) Perhaps we don’t have the mental discipline for it.

4. This hour’s lesson consists of one method by which you can keep your mind on the Lord at His table. This is not original with me but was taught to me at least ten years ago by another preacher.

5. Remember these things:

1) One Lord.

2) Two thieves.

3) Three crosses.

4) Four parts to His garments.

5) Five wounds.

6) Six hours of suffering.

7) Seven sayings.
