Just Stop And Look At The Birds!
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesWhen we think about our lives, do we worry about our money? We are to be good stewards (1 Corinthians 4:1-2), but Jesus taught that we are not to worry about our money or anything else (Matthew 6:25; Philippians 4:6). If we put our trust in the Lord, we don’t have to worry about life’s necessities for God Himself has assumed responsibility for our food and clothing “” and all our needs (Matthew 6:30-32; Philippians 4:19).
When Jesus spoke of our need for food, He pointed to the birds and said:
“They neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26 – NKJV).
This doesn’t mean we get what we need by doing nothing. Even birds must scratch and search for food. But the point is, they don’t worry about it.
Jesus instructed us to center our lives on God’s kingdom. Then clothing, food, and drink will be ours as well (Matthew 6:33). Let’s look at it this way “” if live only for money, we’ll ultimately leave it or it will leave us (Ecclesiastes 2:14-20 – NKJV; Proverbs 23:5 – NKJV). But if we focus our life on God and the doing of His will (Matthew 7:21), all these other things will be provided.
Does our concern for making money and keeping it overshadow our concern for doing God’s will? (Matthew 19:16-22). If so, let’s just stop and look at the birds!.
