Grace And Salvation — Found Only “In Christ Jesus”
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesSincere religious folks mistakenly believe from Ephesians 2:8-9 – NKJV that grace is received by faith alone. Others believe that grace is acquired when they simply trust in the Lord.
In 2 Timothy 2:1 – NKJV, Paul tells Timothy regarding grace:
“You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” (emphasis mine).
Looking at 2 Timothy 2:10 – NKJV, Paul tells Timothy regarding salvation:
“Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory” (emphasis mine).
It’s interesting to note from these two verses that grace is found “in Christ Jesus” and salvation is also found “in Christ Jesus.”
The obvious question then becomes: How does one get “in Christ Jesus” in order to acquire both grace and salvation?
The Bible answer is when an individual is baptized “into Christ” (Gal. 3:27 – NKJV; Romans 6:3 – NKJV).
