God's Checks Will Never Bounce!
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles, uncategorizedThe saying, “You can never outgive God” may be doubted by miserly people, but the inspired writer Paul fully supports this saying. Having just received their generous gifts to meet his needs in prison, he assured the Philippian brethren that because of their generosity, God wouldn’t allow them to suffer undue need (Philippians 1:7; Philippians 4:14-19). He told them, “My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). God’s people have relied on the truth of these words ever since.
To help us place our trust more confidently in this promise of God, someone has inserted the following in Philippians 4:19 – NKJV using simple financial terms:
“And my God [the bank] shall supply [the check] all your need [the amount] according to His riches in glory [the capital] by Christ Jesus [the signature].”
As with any valid check that we receive, we need only to endorse God’s check through our “signature of faith” and it will be paid in full (Hebrews 11:6; Romans 10:17; Acts 4:12; Acts 10:43; Acts 10:48) “” it will never bounce!
As long as we’re willing to be content with much or little, as Paul was (Philippians 4:12), we can dare to be generous people. Only then will we discover for ourselves that we can never outgive our rich and generous God (cf. Malachi 3:10).
God gives freely to us so that we can give freely to others (2 Corinthians 8:1-14).
