Evolution As Seen Through The Eyes Of A Monkey
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesOver the space of many years, evolutionists have contended for a theory that is not provable, either by true scientific evidence or by biblical evidence. Volumes of books have been written to emphasize this point. The most significant piece of evidence that this writer has ever seen, comes in the form of a simple poem that has appeared in many Christian publications in years past.
This poem, by an unknown author, compares the actions of monkeys with the actions of men void of moral guidance, and then comes to a logical conclusion. The results of the comparison are glaringly clear:
The Monkey’s Viewpoint
Three monkeys sat in a coconut tree.
Discussing things as they’re said to be.
Said one to the other: “Now listen, you two:
There’s a certain rumor that can’t be true;
That man descended from our noble race!
The very idea! It’s a dire disgrace!
No monkey ever deserted his wife,
Starved her baby, and ruined her life.
And you’ve never known a mother Monk
To leave the babies with others to bunk,
Till they scarcely know who is their mother.
And another thing: You’ll never see
A Monk build a fence around a coconut tree
And let the coconuts go to waste,
Forbidding all other Monks a taste,
Why, if I’d put a fence around this tree
Starvation would force you to steal from me.
Here’s another thing a Monk won’t do —
Go out at night and get on a stew,
Or use a gun, or club, or knife
To take some other monkey’s life.
Yes, Man descended, the ornery cuss —
But, Brother, he didn’t descend from us!”
What The Poem Teaches
What this poem teaches, is that without moral guidance from the God-ordained inspired Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16 AMP), man will become more morally corrupt than the monkey (Jude 1:8,10 AMP), who is but a mere animal, not created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 11:7).
Solomon tells us in Ecclesiastes 7:29 NLT, that “God created people to be virtuous, but they have each turned to follow their own downward path.”
This same writer illustrates the above truth, with a comparison of his own in Proverbs 2:10-15 where he states (note the word “path” in the above verse, and “paths” in the following verse):
“When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things, From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness; Who rejoice in doing evil, And delight in the perversity of the wicked; Whose ways are crooked, And who are devious in their paths.”
When people are left to “do their own thing” (Judges 17:6; Judges 18:1; Judges 19:1; Judges 21:25) without moral direction from God (cf. Jeremiah 10:23; Proverbs 3:5-6), immorality and lawlessness become the norm (Romans 1:21-32).
In this kind of society, people have no awareness of things spiritual, and thus become “senseless” in their thinking processes — literally becoming “fools” (Romans 1:21-22 AMP; cf. Genesis 6:5; Genesis 8:21; Mark 7:21-23).
Conclusion:
Brethren and friends, let’s discount evolution as just a “theory” devised by the vivid imagination of man, and strictly adhere to the “sound” inspired teachings of God’s revealed word — the Bible (1 Timothy 1:1-10; Titus 1:9-16; 2 Timothy 3:16 AMP).
Unlike the evolutionary path, when we are willing to follow the God-directed “path” that the Bible talks about, we can rest assured that we won’t see a “dead-end” sign at the end of it (Proverbs 3:5-6; cf. Psalm 23:1-3).
