“Changing Our Hitching Post”
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesThe story is told of a young West Texas farmer who had a reputation of frequenting a local bar in town. He would tie his team of horses to the hotel hitching post next to where the bar was, go inside the bar and have a few drinks. His lady friend was a Christian, who one day talked him into attending church services with her. Then she talked him into a Bible study with the preacher of the congregation. In just a few short weeks, he became a Christian.
However, when the young farmer came to town, he continued to tie his team of horses to the hotel hitching post.
One day, one of the elders of the church observed him hitching his team of horses to the hotel hitching post. He called out to him and said, “Son, I’m a good deal older than you are, and I know you will pardon me if I make a suggestion from my experience. No matter how spiritually strong you think you are, take my advice and change your hitching post.”
Brethren and friends, “changing our hitching post” makes all the difference in the world regarding our Christian walk and influence.
When we obey the Lord, folks must see a difference in how we act.
Let’s think about it!
