A Revolution Is Coming
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesFrom today’s Montana Street bulletin, comes the following above titled article written by Brother John Gipson:
I am no prophet or the son of a prophet, but there is one thing I know: A revolution is coming and there is no way to stop it! It’s going to sweep across our nation as quickly as a prairie fire borne by strong southern winds. And nothing will be able to stand before it.
Our efforts to stem this advance will be as futile as the balloons designed for the defenses of Paris which “mounted heavenward, so beautifully, so unguidably.” Our efforts will be as inane as the suggestion of one citizen who, during the revolution, worked out a scheme of a huge wooden cannon “which France shall exclusively profit by.” It was to be made of staves by the coopers of Paris. Thomas Carlyle reports that the wooden cannon was “of almost boundless caliber, but uncertain as to strength.”
Whatever efforts we make to confront our coming revolution will be as silly and as ineffective as those suggested by some in a past century.
The revolution has begun, and shortly will take over every federal government office, judgeship, police force, state government, school, hospital, business and every church.
This is certain and sure, and there will be no exceptions.
This revolution is the youth of today.
Today we have the opportunity to teach and train (Psalm 78:1-8; cf. Deuteronomy 6). Tomorrow will be too late. It is of unspeakable importance to “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6).
“If we work upon marble, it will perish; if on brass, time will efface it; if we rear temples, they will crumble into dust; but if we work upon immortal minds, and imbue them with principles, with the just fear of God and love of our fellow man, we engrave on those tablets something that will brighten to all eternity” (source).
