20 Common Grammar Mistakes

As any good writer will tell you, good writing is an art. Good writers are always wanting to improve their writing ability, and that includes the use of proper grammar.

Jon Gingerich, who is the editor of O’Dwyer’s magazine in New York, has written an excellent article entitled, 20 Common Grammar Mistakes That (Almost) Everyone Makes.

Those of us who post our articles to blogs, can greatly benefit from Mr. Gingerich’s wise insight.

He points out that the most common grammar mistakes a writer can make, is in the use of the following words, and knowing when to properly use them:

  • Who and Whom
  • Which and That
  • Lay and Lie
  • Moot
  • Continual and Continuous
  • Envy and Jealousy
  • Nor
  • May and Might
  • Whether and If
  • Fewer and Less
  • Farther and Further
  • Since and Because
  • Disinterested and Uninterested
  • Anxious
  • Different Than and Different From
  • Bring and Take
  • Impactful
  • Affect and Effect
  • Irony and Coincidence
  • Nauseous
