Worship Is Conducive To Good Health

The Internet Journal Of Family Practice (scroll down to “Introduction” heading) noted that a recent study of more than 2,000 deaths in a national cohort of approximately 21,000 people, followed for nine years (1987-1997), found that persons who never attended religious services had a mortality risk 87% higher than those attending more than weekly.

A survey entitled, “Religious Involvement and US Adult Mortality,” tells us that weekly churchgoers will live to the age of 82 and those who attend more than once a week, will live to the age of 83. On the other side of the coin, non-churchgoers will live an average of 75 years.

What do these studies and surveys tell us? That worship is not only good for us spiritually speaking, but physically speaking as well (Proverbs 3:1-2,7-8; cf. 1 Timothy 4:8; Psalm 37:4-5).

As the above Scriptures attest, worshiping God is not only the right thing to do, it’s the healthy thing to do.

By the way, as we assemble to acceptably worship God this Sunday (Acts 20:7; John 4:23-24; Revelation 19:9-10; Revelation 22:9), we’ll be sure to save you a seat at the front of the auditorium!
