When I Awake
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesWhen I awake, what will I see?
As I step into eternity?
No longer frail or just a breath
As man on earth is said to be!
Sin brought death to all mankind
But death for me is silver lined,
A triumphant cry, the victors shout
Saved by grace, there is no doubt!
A stranger in this land so long,
At last, I’m being taken home.
A pilgrim in this sinful place,
But now, immortal, saved by grace!
Absent from my body,
At home with my dear Lord,
Beholding all His glory
With those who’ve gone before.
Those words He said to Martha
Still live within my mind,
“Everyone who lives and believes
In me, shall never die!”
So when my earthly life is passed
And I awake to be with thee,
Only by your righteousness
That marvelous face I’ll see!
I’ll get to view those things revealed
That can’t compare to present time,
But just to see Christ glorious face
Will keep me satisfied!
I’ll hear the heavenly choruses
And hear the anthems ring,
Rejoice and serve my only Lord
Renewed and filled with strength.
Abundant joyous fellowship
And reigning with my King
My life has finally started,
With Him eternally!
