What Are We Saved By?

Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles

There is much confusion in the religious world as to the avenues of our salvation as described in the Bible. Through the use of a good concordance (this writer used Young’s Analytical Concordance), this confusion can be alleviated.

The following is a biblical list of “what we are saved by.” Although this is certainly not an exhaustive list, it does illustrate several avenues of our salvation.

1) Hope (Romans 8:24).

2) The Gospel (Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 15:1-2).

3) Grace Through Faith (Acts 15:11; Ephesians 2:5,8).

4) Baptism (Mark 16:16; 1 Peter 3:21).

5) Believing On The Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:30-31).

6) The Love Of The Truth (2 Thessalonians 2:10).

7) His (God’s) Mercy (Titus 3:5).

8) Our Faith (Luke 7:50; Luke 18:42).

9) Our Belief (Mark 16:16; Luke 8:12; Romans 10:9).

10) Christ’s Testimony (John 5:34).

11) The Lord (Acts 2:47).

12) The Preaching Of The Cross (Romans 1:16; 1 Corinthians 1:18).

13) Confessing That God Raised Christ From The Dead (Romans 10:9).

14) The Power Of God (2 Timothy 1:8-9).

15) Being In The Body (church) Of Christ (Ephesians 5:23).

16) Enduring To The End (Matthew 10:22; Mark 13:13; cf. Revelation 2:10).

17) Entering In Through The Door (Christ – John 10:9).

18) Calling On The Name Of The Lord (Acts 2:21; Romans 10:13).

19) His (Christ’s) Life (Romans 5:10).

20) Repentance (2 Corinthians 7:10).

21) Hearing The Gospel (Romans 10:13-14; Ephesians 1:13; 1 Timothy 4:16).

22) Water (1 Peter 3:20; cf. Genesis 7:7).
