Truth Illuminates
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesThe story is told of man and his girlfriend who one day went into a fast-food restaurant and ordered a sack of chicken. Unknown to them, the manager of the restaurant had placed the day’s cash sales in a sack and set it at the side of the serving counter. The completed order of chicken was put in a sack and placed on the counter as well. When the clerk reached for the couple’s order, he mistakenly picked up the sack of money instead of the chicken. The couple paid for what they thought was their chicken and drove to a park to have a picnic.
Much to their surprise, when they opened the sack, they found greenbacks instead of chicken. They looked at one another and decided there was only one honest thing to do — immediately return the money. When they arrived at the restaurant, the manager could hardly contain himself. He enthusiastically told the couple, “I can’t believe it! I’m calling the local newspaper immediately. They’ll come and take your picture and run your story. You’ve got to be the two most honest people in this town!”
The man hurriedly replied, “No, please don’t call the newspaper! You see, I’m a married man, but this woman is not my wife.”
Dear reader, while there are many people who await the night’s darkness before they commit their evil deeds, there are others who have already created their own darkness in the inner recesses of their mind, even while walking in the light.
Rest assured that the light of Truth will always illuminate any situation and expose it for what it really is (Ephesians 5:12-13; cf. John 3:18-20)
Let’s think about it!
