The Facts of Life

1. Sometimes it’s necessary to put things in a very basic, plain way.
2. Some won’t understand the importance of eternal matters without some plainness.
3. Once a famous football coach was upset with the performance of his team and decided to explain things from the very simplest matters. He began his speech, “This is a football.”
4. So, with this idea in mind let’s note some basic facts of life that we must know.
DISCUSSION:
I. You Were Born To Die
1. This life is no paradise. Genesis 3:17-19
2. Life is fleeting. 1 Peter 1:24; James 4:14
3. Life is full of trouble. Job 14:1
4. We add to the trouble. Proverbs 13:15
1) When we lie and get caught.
2) When we’re lazy and are unprepared.
3) When we steal and have to pay it back.
4) When we talk ugly to others and lose respect.
5. Then after this life of trouble we die and have to appear before God. Hebrews 9:27
II. Sin Is Black.
1. It is an abomination to God. Proverbs 12:22; Proverbs 6:16-19.
2. No one is exempt. Romans 3:23
3. Sin separates from God. Genesis 3:22-24; Isaiah 59:1-2
4. Sin brings death. Ezekiel 18:20; Romans 6:23
5. Sin causes the sinner to be worthy of punishment. Romans 2:9; Matthew 25:41-46
III. Hell is Hot.
1. After Judgment mankind has nothing but an eternity in hell to endure. Romans 3:23; Matthew 7:13
2. Hell is a place of destruction. Matthew 10:28
3. A place of darkness, regret and pain. Matthew 25:30
4. A place of filth and heat. Mark 9:48
5. A lake of fire. Rev. 20:15
6. At this point we have an understanding of the final disposition of all mankind because of lying, stealing, foul speech and all other sins. Yet there is one other fact to consider.
IV. Jesus Saves.
1. By His blood. Romans 5:8-9
2. ONLY Jesus Saves. Acts 4:11-12
3. By obeying Him. Hebrews 5:8-9
4. By cleansing sin. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
5. By walking in the light. 1 John 1:7-9
CONCLUSION:
1. Here we have the facts of life.
1) You were born to die.
2) Sin is black.
3) Hell is hot.
4) Jesus saves.
2. All men have to make the choice. Will you obey Jesus? Or will you join the rest of mankind in eternal hell?
