1. There are many that balk at becoming a Christian at the story of the Birth of Jesus.
2. They “know” how things work and it’s easier to believe in an impure Mary than a Virgin Birth.
3. We are asked to believe based on the testimony of Mary and Joseph, mainly Mary.
4. It’s an essential matter of Christian faith. No virgin birth of Jesus, no Son of God. It’s the end of the matter; no Messiah.
5. BUT. How can we believe it? If one of our neighbors came up with such a story we’d laugh.
6. Mary needs corroboration. Only when we have further testimony does the story stand. AND STAND IT DOES!
DISCUSSION:
I. THE TESTIMONY OF THE FATHER.
1. Matt. 3:17.
2. Matt. 17:5
3. These were events in time and space. There were witnesses to tell it.
II. THE TESTIMONY OF THE SON.
1. John 8:58.
2. Matt. 7:21; 10:32; 11:27.
3. Luke 8:25
III. TESTIMONY OF THE APOSTLES.
1. Saw the miracles, John 20:30-31.
2. Blessed by Jesus for confessing, Matt. 16:16.
3. Knew Him to be sinless, 1 Pet. 2:22; 1 John 3:5.
4. Eyewitnesses, 2 Pet. 1:16.
5. The empty tomb, Matt. 28:6.
Conclusion:
1. Mary is fully and adequately corroborated.
2. Jesus is the virgin born Son of God. The Messiah.
3. Let the unbeliever examine the full story and believe.
