Teaching By Example
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesAs Christ is our godly example for us to follow (1 Peter 2:21; 1 John 2:6; cf. Acts 10:38), we too should be godly examples to our children and grandchildren.
The following poem by an unknown author, graphically illustrates the necessity of our being a godly example:
“A careful man I want to be,
A little fellow follows me,
I do not dare to go astray,
For fear he will go the self-same way.
I cannot once escape his eyes,
Whatever he sees me do he tried.
Like me, he says, he is going to be,
The little chap who follows me.
He thinks that I am good and fine,
Believes in every word of mine.
The base in me he must not see,
The little chap who follows me.
I must remember as I go,
Through summer’s sun and winter’s snow,
I am building for the years to be,
That little chap who follows me.”
