Some Spiritual Commitments for the New Year
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles Tags: Bible Lessons on New Year, new yearThe year 2024 is in the books and 2025 is here. We have a new year ahead of us to work for the Lord. What will it hold in store for us? First, let’s resolve to be spiritually active this year. Let’s work on our prayer life and Bible study. Speaking to God every day and letting Him speak to you in His word every day is a great recipe for daily success. Acts 17:11 records the attitude of the Bereans, “These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.”
Second, let’s resolve to attend all the services at the New Boston church of Christ. Yes, I know that sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances, and sometimes, we have plans to be out of town. Barring these situations, let’s commit to being at the New Boston church of Christ for all our services! Hebrews 10:25 says, “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Third, we need to commit more to the life of the church. I know everyone has things they are doing outside of the church, but what do we need more than anything else? More worldly activities or more spiritual activities? Let’s be honest about this. We need more fellowship with our Christian brothers and sisters. To do that, we must commit to being with them at times other than our regularly scheduled services. Being a Christian is a commitment to a community of people. If we do not affirm that community, it will die. What can we do to be more involved in the life of the church?
God bless you, and I love you.
