Seeing What God Sees
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesPsalm 82, is a rebuke to the Israelites for failing to fulfill their God-given purpose. God had chosen them to show the world how to live right and judge justly, but they were failing to live up to that responsibility. Instead of defending the weak and fatherless, they were defending the unjust and showing partiality to the wicked (Psalm 82:2).
During His ministry here on earth, Jesus confirmed God’s interest in the weak and helpless (Matthew 9:36 ESV; Matthew 14:14 ESV; Mark 6:34 ESV). He explained that whatever is done for the “least of these” is done for Him (cf. Matthew 25:34-40). He also scolded His disciples for keeping innocent children away from Him (Luke 18:16-17).
Those who have eyes that see what God sees, will find ways to help the helpless (2 Corinthians 8:1-5; 1 John 3:15-18).
