On “Singing Unto The Lord”
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles Tags: Bulletin Articles on SingingAs King Hezekiah restores God’s pattern of worship in 2 Chronicles 29, we read in 2 Chronicles 29:30, “.…And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.“
The subject of singing either “with” or “without” musical instruments has been debated throughout the brotherhood for many years. It is not this writer’s intent to “continue” that debate in this article. My only intent is to make a few observations and comments concerning our worship to our heavenly Father through the teaching medium of “singing.”
With these thoughts in mind, let us “think” about the following scriptural aspects of our “singing unto the Lord”:

2) With an understanding heart – Psalm 47:7; 1 Corinthians 14:15.
3) With our whole heart – Psalm 9:1-2; Psalm 111:1; Ephesians 5:19.

Why Did David Sing Unto The Lord?
There are many other reasons too numerous to mention in this article that David lists for “singing unto the Lord.” The following Psalms are therefore provided for your further study:
1) Psalm 9
2) Psalm 95
3) Psalm 100
4) Psalm 145-148
Conclusion:
As we offer our worship and “sing unto the Lord,” may the Lord richly bless each one of us as we “offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name” (Hebrews 13:15).
