Let's Delve In 2012!
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesWhen we delve into something, we usually “inquire or research deeply or intensively (for information, etc); as “he delved in the Bible for quotations” (source – scroll down to World English Dictionary definition).
With the above definition in mind, let’s delve in 2012!
By:
- Delving into God’s word (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV; cf. Acts 17:11).
- Delving into how we can increase our Bible knowledge (Romans 12:2; Colossians 1:9; 1 Peter 2:1-2; 2 Peter 3:17-18) and understanding (Ephesians 3:1-4; cf. Ephesians 1:16-18; Ephesians 5:14-17).
- Delving into how we can become a “Christian” (Acts 11:26; cf. 1 Peter 4:16), so the Lord can add us to His church, which is associated with the Lord’s body (Acts 2:47; cf. Ephesians 1:17-23; Ephesians 5:23).
- Delving into the Lord’s church as found and described in the New Testament (Matthew 16:18-19; Romans 14:17; note the use of the word “kingdom“ in these passages).
- Delving into how we can help the Lord’s church to grow numerically (Acts 6:7; Acts 9:31; Acts 16:5) as well as spiritually (1 Thessalonians 1).
- Delving into how we can help our fellow man (Gal. 6:10; cf. Luke 10:25-37) and our fellow Christians ( Matthew 25:31-40; James 2:15-17; 1 John 3:15-18; cf. Deuteronomy 15:7-11).
- Delving into how we can improve our prayer life (Luke 11:1; cf. Matthew 6:5-13).
- Delving into how we can add to our character the qualities listed in 2 Peter 1:5-7 (see commentary for further explanation of terms used).
- Delving into how we can become more like our Savior (Gal. 2:20; cf. Romans 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:18-25; 1 John 2:6).
By delving into all of the above in 2012, we can not only help prepare ourselves for that eternal abode (Matthew 25:10 – note the word “ready“; cf. 2 Peter 1:10-11), but help prepare others (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16; cf. 2 Timothy 2:1-2), so they can go along with us (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
