“Here Am I Lord — Send Me!”
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesIn a time of great spiritual need, the prophet Isaiah is called to rebuke the sins of the people, to warn them of their impending doom, and to call upon them to repent and do God’s will. He is summoned into the throne room of God, where he hears Him ask, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Isaiah responds, “Here am I! Send me” (Isaiah 6:8).
Through the gospel, God still calls men and women to be His spokesmen today (2 Thessalonians 2:13-14; Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16). He challenges us to serve Him — sometimes at home, and sometimes in distant lands (note the latter portion of Acts 1:8; cf. Acts 8:1).
The only question for us is, How will we respond to His call?
May God give us the courage to say, “Here am I Lord — send me!”
