“If I Don’t Go, I Don’t Get”
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles Tags: Bible Lessons on MotivationThere’s an interesting sign inside a very popular car wash and coffee shop business here in El Paso that carries not only an application for us in the secular world, but in the spiritual world as well.
The words of the sign read:
“If I don’t go, I don’t get”
The idea behind these words, is that if the owners don’t have the motivation or ambition to “go” to work and wash some cars on any given day, they won’t “get” the reward that a daily living brings.
The same idea holds true in the spiritual realm. As Christians, if we don’t “go” and “teach all nations” the saving gospel of Christ to those lost in sin (Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16) we ‘re not going to “get” the reward the Lord generously offers us in return for our labor (1 Corinthians 15:58; Revelation 2:10; cf. 1 Peter 1:4).
Every morning when we awake, let’s remember the words of this sign, and then go do what the Lord said do in Matthew 28:19-20:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.“
