An Indelible Truth Regarding An Individual's Faith
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesHere’s an indelible truth regarding an individual’s faith: God has never blessed anyone’s faith before his faith expressed itself in some act.
Faith is always conditional (see the preposition, “if” in 1 John 1:6-9) to some kind of faith/act response in obedience to the commands of God (Hebrews 11:1-13; cf. Matthew 7:21; Acts 9:6; Acts 9:18; Acts 10:43; Acts 10:47-48; Acts 16:30-33; Acts 18:8; Romans 1:5; Romans 2:7; Romans 2:13; Romans 5:9; Romans 6:3; Romans 6:17; Romans 10:16-17; Romans 16:26; James 1:22; James 1:25).
The following is an excellent faith formula:
Faith = Trust conjoined (associated or connected) with obedience (i.e., Gal. 5:4-6 – “Faith working through love”). Also note how the words “faith” and “love” interconnect in 1 Timothy 1:14; and 2 Timothy 1:13).
