A Comparative Analysis Of The New Birth
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles Tags: Bible Lessons on the New BirthA querist asks, “My Baptist friends say that “born of water” means the physical birth — how would I go about correcting this ideology?”
In his article entitled, “The New Birth: Its Necessity and Composition,” Brother Wayne Jackson does an excellent comparative analysis of John 3:5 and the connection of the words, Spirit, water, and kingdom; 1 Corinthians 12:13 and the connection of the words, Spirit, baptism, and body; Ephesians 5:26 and the connection of the words, Word, water, and cleansed; and Titus 3:5 and the connection of the words, Holy Spirit, washing, and saved.
In comparing all of the above verses along with the corresponding key words, one can correctly see the whole “picture” of the expression, “born of water” in John 3:5.
