The Importance And Necessity Of 'Home' School
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesBrother Karl Diestelkamp, one of the writers for the online Christian publication, “Think On These Things,” has written a concise and thought-provoking article entitled ‘Home’ School.
In his article, Brother Diestelkamp makes the following comments regarding the secular and spiritual education of our children:
“We are expected to “Train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6), and we cannot pass off this responsibility to the child, or an educational institution, or the government, or even the church. Neither is there some magic birthday, such as eighteen or twenty-one, where godly parental responsibility ends and we are exempt from using our good influence on our children.”
We can add our hearty “Amen” to what Brother Diestelkamp has written.
There’s no question that biblical education begins in the home — and at an early age (Ecclesiastes 12:1; 2 Timothy 3:15; cf. Genesis 18:16-19), with parental involvement being the key factor.
