“Who Has Known The Mind Of The Lord?”
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesWith our finite minds and many times, self-centered views, it’s sometimes difficult to understand why God does what He does. Yet some people look at tragedies that come their way in life and turn their backs on God — assuming that their finite knowledge about the situation is greater than His infinite wisdom.
In the book of Job, we see that Job didn’t turn his back on God, even when he lost everything that was precious to him (Job 1-2). Did he understand why these things were happening to him? No, but instead of turning his back on God, he placed his complete confidence and trust in Him (Proverbs 3:5-6), knowing that God would take care of him, no matter what the circumstance (Job 13:15; cf. Psalm 23:4).
The apostle Paul once asked this question: “Who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” (1 Corinthians 2:16).
Clearly, the answer is no one.
But praise God, that even when we don’t completely understand Him, we know we can trust Him for providing us with the best outcome possible for our benefit (Romans 8:28; Deuteronomy 6:24-25; Deuteronomy 10:12-13).
