“Where Have All The Faithful Preachers Gone?”
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesBrother James E. Gibbons, editor of the Sword and Staff publication, has written the following poem, entitled, “Where Have All the Faithful Preachers Gone?”
“Say, where have all the strong and faithful preachers gone? Who stately stood and spoke the truth with thunderous tone? They were stalwart and unashamed, with message sound, And though few followed them, they knew where they were bound.Tell us, where have the strong and faithful preachers gone? Who with backbone were unafraid to stand alone? God’s Word is still the same — man’s needs are greater still. Will none step up and take a stand their place to fill?”
Brethren, as Brother Gibbons has so plainly expressed in the above poem, there is a dire shortage and need of faithful-to-the-Book preachers.
With these thoughts in mind, the following are some suggested schools of preaching for any young man who has an intense desire to become a gospel preacher:
- Southwest School of Bible Studies
- Brown Trail School of Preaching
- Memphis School of Preaching
- East Tennessee School of Preaching
- West Virginia School of Preaching
- Georgia School of Preaching
- Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver
- Florida School of Preaching
Let us pray that God will raise up men who will qualify themselves to become faithful gospel preachers — men who will uphold the integrity of the Holy Scriptures (1 Thessalonians 2:1-5; cf. 2 Timothy 1:13-14; Ephesians 6:19-20).
