What is the age of accountability?
Categories: Bible Questions and AnswersHow old must a child be before he becomes responsible for his own sin?
Isaiah 7:15, 16 suggest that it is the age at which a child knows the difference between good and evil. The age may differ from child to child depending upon the quality of education that the child receives and the amount of sinful situations to which a child is exposed. Being a parent, however, I believe that one may discern in one’s child when the child can tell the difference between what is right and what is wrong.
Jesus was twelve years old when he began to teach in the temple according to Luke 2:42. I would think that this age would be common for most young people to understand the fundamental difference between right and wrong.
