What Do We See?

On his blog, Brother Daniel Haynes, has a soul-penetrating article written by Brother Dan Winkler entitled, “What Did They See.” Brother Winkler’s thoughts center around Luke 23:33-35:
“And when they came unto the place which is called The Skull there they crucified him …. the people stood beholding.”
As the people stood by the cross of Jesus, trying to “put things together,” what did they see?
- They saw the “obvious“ (John 19:28).
- They saw something “mysterious” (Luke 23:44-45).
- They saw something “vicarious” (John 10:10; 1 Corinthians 15:3).
- They saw something “marvelous” (1 Corinthians 11:23-26; 1 John 4:9-10).
Brethren, when we look at Jesus on the cross in the 21st Century, what do we see?
