The Purpose of The Preacher’s Files

Categories: Blog

I just got an e-mail that sums up better than any way I can put it the purpose of this website. I know it is used in many ways; to find answers, to find sermon ideas, etc., but the following e-mail is what I like to hear. It’s what keeps me working on the site.

I attend the ________ Church of Christ in __________, TN. We are a small congregation of about 30 people located in rural Tennessee. We recently found ourselves without a preacher in that our regular minister was diagnosed with lung cancer. Being that most of our congregation is women with about 4 men at any given time, I was elected to deliver the Sunday morning sermons for the past 6 weeks. This is something I have never done before and to say the least I was a little shakey! lol. I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for posting this fine assortment of sermons for public viewing. I have used several of these and they are life savers. I am a adult education teacher and I work close to 60 hours a week so I have little time to work up a sermon. This site has been the greatest help to me and our congregation! Again, Thank You for posting these.

Ps. I have one question, I’ve noticed in several of your sermin outlines you refer to S,T,O,P and A. What exactly are you refering to with this? Thanks again for your time…

I specifically post these outlines and lessons for congregations on the edge. A Christian gets sent to a location with no church, so he starts one. He can keep up his secular work and begin a spiritual work. Soldiers meeting for worship in a war zone, construction workers in a country not friendly to Christ and congregations on the edge of survival in rural areas of the U.S.; none of these can afford a full-time preacher, but a man can lay his public speaking fears aside and step up and do what he can if he has a little help.

I applaud this man and I believe Heaven does too.
