Subjection: Something We Give Voluntarily
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesBrother Rick Liggin, one of the writers for the “Think On These Things” publication, provides some interesting thoughts regarding 1 Corinthians 14:34-NASB, in his article entitled, “Subjection: Something We Give Voluntarily.”
He correctly points out that subjection is something that both men and women should willingly and voluntarily render to one another and to the Lord.
The text reads:
“Let the women keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but let them subject themselves, just as the Law also says” (1 Corinthians 14:34-NASB).
Note the phrase, “subject themselves” in the above passage.
Brother Liggin ends his article by saying:
“Any Christian that has a problem submitting himself to whomever the Lord requires his submission, has a problem! And his problem is not with men, but with Christ. It’s not about others “bossing me around” or “keeping me in line.” It’s about me respecting Christ and respecting my brothers….and subjecting myself!
Let’s think about it!
