SUBJECT: Obedience

TITLE: YE HAVE OBEYED FROM THE HEART

PROPOSITION: To teach what in means to obey from the heart by means of biblical examples.

OBJECTIVE: That the hearer might understand what it means to obey from the heart.

INTRODUCTION: READ Rom. 6:17

1. Paul had just stated an important principle in v. 16. You make a choice about the pattern you yield yourself to. Sin unto death – obedience unto salv.

2. He expresses thanks to God. Regarding the state he finds the Roman Xians in. There is a part God plays in the salv. Of man.

2) Tit. 3:4-5

4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

3. Paul is thankful that they have obeyed from the heart.

4. Why is this so important – so essential? Rom. 6:23, the wages of sin is death.

5. The importance is also seen in Jesus proclamation in Matt. 7:21-23; Rev. 2:4; 3:14-17.

6. God is “all in” when it comes to dealing with mankind. It’s from the heart. What more would he have to do to convince you?

7. God left examples for us to know what it means to obey from the heart.

CONCLUSION:

1. What will you see when someone obeys from the heart.

1) Conviction

2) Trust

3) Adoration

4) Meekness

2. You may have the need to obey from the heart.
