INTRODUCTION: Read Matt. 4:12-17

1. Jesus begins His ministry.

1) Returns to Nazareth (family concerns?)

2) Moves to Capernaum to begin.

2. At the beginning of His ministry He again fulfills prophecy.

3. He is the LIGHT that is to come to the region.

I. The LIGHT of His Example

1. “Who did no sin…,” 1 Pet. 2:22-23

2. “Him who knew no sin…,” 2 Cor. 5:21

3. “…yet without sin.” Heb. 4:15

4. “…and in him is no sin.” 1 John 3:5

II. The LIGHT to Show the Sin Stains

1. “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins…” John 8:24

2. “…except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3

3. He cast out the den of thieves, Matt. 21:12-13

4. Woes pronounced on those that sin, Matt. 23.

III. The LIGHT to Show the Way

1. He is the way, truth, and life, John 14:6.

2. He is the resurrection and the life, John 11:25.

3. He offers salvation to those who obey, Mark 16:16.

4. He offers rest to those that learn of Him, Matt. 11:28-30.
