One Of Our Greatest Responsibilities

Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles

In Deuteronomy 4:1 – NKJV, the people were being handed a gift from God — “the statutes and the judgments” that would allow them to live properly in the land of God’s promise. Along with those laws, came an admonition for the people to share with their descendants the lessons God taught them on the way. They were told not to “forget the things your eyes have seen” and to teach God’s words to their children and grandchildren (Deuteronomy 4:9 – NKJV).

As God’s children today, we have a similar legacy to convey to the next generation (Deuteronomy 6:1-2 – NKJV; Psalm 78:1-11 – NKJV) Along with the edict of “making disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:19 – NKJV), we should include the teaching of our children and grandchildren as one of our greatest responsibilities.
