Life Is In The Blood
Categories: Audio SermonsUnder the Old Covenant, Israel offered bloody sacrifices to atone for their sins. God accepted these blood sacrifices upon the principle that the life was in the blood. God would not, however, allow the Israelites to eat or drink blood. Once again, the reason for this was because the life was in the blood. Under the New Covenant the blood sacrifices of animals are no longer offered. Hebrews 10:4 states, “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.” In the place of those sacrifices, we have offered for us the blood sacrifice of Jesus which was offered once for all times. Hebrews 10:12 states, “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God.” Once again we find that life is in the blood. In this lesson we will compare the functions of blood with the functions of the blood of Christ: Blood 1) replenishes, 2) removes, 3) repairs, and 4) regulates. The objective of this sermon is to recognize the function of the blood of Christ as it gives life to the body.
