Let's Consider The Ant

Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin Articles

The story is told of a man who placed a piece of cake on a table and put an ant on the cake. He was amused as he watched the little ant run off the cake, descend to the floor, and disappear in search of his friends.

His friends had no difficult understanding the glad message, for it was only a few moments later that the little ant returned, followed by a whole army of ants. The cake was literally covered with busy, and very happy little ants.

As I read the above story, I thought of the Proverb writer and his reference to the ant:

Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise” (Proverbs 6:6).

Since we have been recipients of God’s abundant grace (Ephesians 2:8), mercy (2 Corinthians 4:1, and blessings (Ephesians 1:3), shouldn’t we be like the little ant in the above story, telling all our friends about the rich benefits of the gospel?

Like the little ant, don’t we have friends who can understand the glad message of the gospel? (Acts 10:19-24; cf. Acts 13:29-32; 1 Corinthians 2:1-2).
