It Takes…..
Categories: Church of Christ Bulletin ArticlesHow many people does it take to do the work of the church? How many members of a congregation need to be involved in order to share in the success of the local work?
- It takes every elder to meditate and pray as they guide, protect, and provide spiritual nourishment to every member of the local flock (Acts 6:4 – NKJV; Acts 20:28 – NKJV; Hebrews 13:7 – NKJV; Hebrews 13:17 – NKJV).
- It takes every deacon to serve under the direction of the elders as he has been appointed in the church (I Timothy 3:8-13 – NKJV). They are the right hand of the eldership in both the physical and spiritual work of the church (Acts 6:2-3 – NKJV).
- It takes every preacher to stand for the truth and preach without favor or compromise (Acts 20:20 – NKJV). They will promote the way of the cross, planting the seed of God’s word, and trusting that God will give the increase in the true and honest heart (Luke 8:11 – NKJV; 1 Corinthians 3:6-8 – NKJV).
- It takes every teacher of the Bible to remember that they have a tremendous responsibility in shaping and molding the lives of their students (James 3:1 – NKJV). They will not only take heed to themselves, but be an example to others (I Timothy 4:12 – NKJV, 1 Timothy 4:16 – NKJV).
- It takes every man and woman to use their talents, serving as they are able (Ephesians 4:11-15 – NKJV). As they provide for their children, they will emphasize spiritual knowledge, showing them that the church and salvation is an important aspect in a balanced life (Ephesians 6:4 – NKJV).
- It takes every young person to fortify themselves against the peer pressures of the world by growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord, and being confident in their faith in Christ, no matter what anyone may say (2 Peter 3:18 – NKJV; 1 Peter 3:16 – NKJV).
- It takes every member to be an example of godliness and love so others may be taught and converted to the truth of God’s Son (1 Timothy 4:7-8 – NKJV; John 13:35 – NKJV). The borders of the kingdom will increase because of their concern for lost souls (Acts 8:4 – NKJV).
