Hey, Where Did The Comments Go?!
Categories: Site BusinessYou’ve seen changes in the site all year now but nothing this drastic. I’ve been trying various themes and adapting them to the needs of this site. My tinkering has not done everything I needed it to do.
Because one of the goals of this site is to spread the Gospel as far as it would go I felt the need to cut dramatically the amount of code needed to deliver the lessons. I have cut dramatically. I have cut every last byte I could and am trying to get the site as light as possible. But WHY? you say. It’s because there are countries that are trying to download but it is taking insufferably long. I had to cut because some readers were taking 30 seconds or more to download a page. Some people are still on slow dial-up and websites tend to get bigger per page because new features are added making the download impossible for some.
I wanted to keep the comments but the forum remains for people to interact. I’ll be watching the stats and learning how to carve a few more bytes out. I hope you can tell the difference in speed and forgive the loss of the comments. May the Gospel go where it has not before because of this.
